Our mission is to train students to become professional licensed barbers in the State of North Carolina by ensuring maximum student learning, through theory and practical work. We offer the required training to successfully complete the North Carolina Board of Barber Examiners apprentice examination, placing emphasis on developing students into successful and profitable individuals.
Progression Barber Academy curriculum is inclusive of a business development component offering; barbershop management, business concepts and entity development; as well as credit and wealth management.
OUR PROGRAM
Progression Barber Academy full-time and part-time barbering programs are designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to become licensed barbers. The program includes a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on training, focusing on hair cutting, styling, shaving, beard trimming, and other grooming services. Students also learn about the business aspects of barbering, such as salon management, marketing, and maintaining client relationships.
• The program requires 1,528 hours of instruction, as mandated by the North Carolina State Board of Barber Examiners.
• Full-time students usually complete the program in 12 months. Monday -Friday 8am - 4pm
• Part-time students usually complete the program in 18 months. Tuesday - Friday 5pm - 9pm Saturday 8am - 12:30pm
• The program prepares students for the North Carolina State Board of Barber Examiners licensing exams, which include a written test and a practical skills assessment.
• Tuition for full-time and part-time enrollment is $9,000.00. A deposit in the amount of 23% of total tuition cost is required to reserve a seat.

Mr. Mitchell has been a student of men's grooming and barbering arts for over 22 years. He opened his first barbershop in 2002 and now has expanded to four locations.
In 2024, he established Progression Barber Academy to teach aspiring barbers classic grooming techniques and the value of the "client focused" experience.
